The Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) provides a standard
mechanism for support of multiple authentication methods, including
public key, smart cards, Kerberos, One Time Passwords, and others. EAP
typically runs directly over the link layer without requiring IP and
therefore includes its own support for in-order delivery and re-
transmission. While EAP was originally developed for use with PPP, it is
also now in use with IEEE 802. The encapsulation of EAP on IEEE 802
links is described within IEEE 802.1X.

	"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
